Golden Leaf Church, located in a neighborhood considered a food desert, impoverished, and struggling with literacy, has served the North Memphis community for decades through annual food distribution, meal provision, a clothes closet project, the former ‘Read to Succeed’ initiative, and more. With ongoing renovation needs, beautification, cleanup, and organization projects will help create more welcoming, functional spaces and make a lasting difference in helping the church serve even more people in meaningful ways. The church is planning to beautify spaces used for ministry and service, and has a vision to repurpose another space into a Computer Lab and Literacy Center to bring greater opportunity to youth and families. Volunteers are needed on the Day of Service (4–6 p.m.) to help with cleanup, organization, sorting, and space preparation. 6–8 volunteers are requested, and refreshments will be provided. Come be part of transforming spaces into places of hope, learning, and opportunity for the next generation. CBU Staff Member Contact: RaKesha Gray | rgray4@cbu.edu
